This center is an extension of WVU's Department of English and supports faculty, students, and staff in the improvement of writing and the teaching of writing at West Virginia University.
CWE goals to support writing, writing research, and the teaching of writing include:
- Coordination of WVU's required writing curriculum
- Assessment of campus and community writing needs
- Development of new writing programs to meet the needs of West Virginia students and citizens
- Outreach to the campus and community
- Support for and development of creative writing
- Research on writing and the teaching of writing

The goal of the College of Business and Economics Executive Education Program is to educate leaders and improve the practice of management. This is accomplished by offering a wide array of innovative non-degree programs as well as comprehensive business services. These programs help executives and managers realize their potential by introducing them to new competencies and reinforcing existing ones. The WVU Division of Extended Learning Mission is to provide seamless access to academic courses, lifelong learning opportunities, student services, and library materials through a personalized yet convenient process. FSAP offers free, confidential help to all employees and their families. Services offered include problem assessment, short-term counseling, referral, consultation, education, and critical incident stress debriefing services. Licensed professionals offer training on a wide variety of special topics such as stress management, anxiety/depression, dealing with organizational change, conflict resolution and mediation, alcohol/drugs, parenting issues and relationship difficulties. When problems are complex and involve several issues, FSAP provides linkages to other WVU services, such as Social Justice, Disability/ADA Services, Employee Relations, and Benefits. Additionally, referrals are made to many community resources when appropriate.

The Instructional Technology Resource Center (ITRC) is a service-based unit that provides training and support, free-of-charge, for applying computing technologies to instruction for the West Virginia University academic community. The ITRC organizationally has a dual reporting structure to the Office of Information Technology and to Extended Learning.

The Lifetime Activities Program is a community based, service oriented program operated by the School of Physical Education. A variety of children's classes include: gymnastics (beginning through advanced), learn to swim, swim lessons, martial arts, tennis and Choosy Kids. Adult programs include aerobics, adult swim lessons, swim trim, hydro-aerobics, basketball officiating, Polynesian dance, scuba, snorkeling and martial arts. Programs provide the opportunity for participants to engage in activities that will enhance physical health, provide fitness opportunities and the opportunity to utilize the athletic facilities on campus.
