PURPOSE:
To appropriately classify, or determine non-classified status, and recommend a salary range for a new position prior to commencement of the posting/recruitment process .

REVIEW OF A POSITION:
All new positions (excluding faculty and faculty equivalent/academic professional) must be reviewed by the Classification and Compensation Unit in the Division of Human Resources. A signed official position description form outlining the requirements of the position must be submitted to the Classification and Compensation Unit in the Division of Human Resources.
Upon receipt of the completed description, the Classification and Compensation Unit will review the description and recommend an appropriate classified or non-classified job title and corresponding paygrade or salary range.
POSTING A NEW POSITION:
To post and recruit for a newly created position, a completed Employment Activity Report (EAR), an Instructional/Non-Instructional Form (for state funded positions only) and approval from the appropriate vice president must accompany the position description.
