TEMPORARY SERVICES POLICY
PURPOSE
To outline the means by which West Virginia University provides a process to acquire temporary services to perform work otherwise performed by regularly assigned staff.
SCOPE
All classified positions at West Virginia University, including those on the regional campuses, are covered under this policy.
POLICY
In circumstances where operational need requires supplement or substitute staff for short periods of time, to accomplish specific tasks, requests for temporary employees will be routed through the Employment Unit in the Department of Human Resources. Attempts will be made to fill the vacancies via the Mountaineer Temps Program. If Mountaineer Temps is unable to match the need, the Employment Unit will coordinate filling the position through an external vendor. Departments may not contact outside vendors directly. Procurement Services will audit invoices for these services and reject payment invoices not bearing specific approval of the Employment Unit.
PROCEDURE
Additional information regarding this policy or the proper procedure to follow can be obtained in the Temporary Services procedure.
