RETIREE IDENTIFICATION CARDS POLICY
PURPOSE
To outline the means by which West Virginia University attempts to assist retirees in situations requiring identification and provide access to University facilities.
SCOPE
This policy applies to all former employees of West Virginia University, including those on the regional campuses, who meet the following criteria:
- receives a retirement income from TIAA-CREF, State Teachers Retirement System, or Federal Government; and one of the following;
- contributed thirty years of service to WVU; or
- is sixty years of age with five years of service to WVU; or
- is fifty-five years of age with twenty years of service to WVU; or
- is an individual with a disability with ten years of service to WVU; or
- is a participant in the West Virginia University Severance Plan.
POLICY
In recognition of their services rendered to West Virginia University, qualifying retirees will be provided access to use facilities, and purchase two (2) season tickets for athletic team(s) and cultural events.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION
The employing department is responsible to ensure proper processing of the required documents for the issuance of the WVU Retiree Identification Card by the Benefits Office. The Benefits Unit in the Department of Human Resources, at 293-5700 or P.O. Box 6640, is available to answer questions or provide additional information regarding this policy.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR INTERPRETATION
The responsibility for interpretation of this policy rests with the Director of Human Resources, West Virginia University.
