POSTING A CLASSIFIED POSITION FOR RECRUITMENT POLICY

PURPOSE

To outline the policy at West Virginia University required to post a position in accordance with the West Virginia University Affirmative Action Plan and West Virginia Board of Trustees Series 31.

SCOPE

All classified positions posted in the Jobs Bulletin at West Virginia University are covered under this policy, including those on the regional campuses.

POLICY

A signed, official position description form outlining the current responsibilities and qualifications for the vacant position; a completed Employment Activity Report (EAR); Instructional/Non-Instructional Form (for state funded positions only); and approval from the appropriate vice president, is required for classification review prior to advertising for recruitment. If additional information is required to properly classify the position, the posting may be delayed until resolution of the classification issue(s).

All vacancies must be posted for a minimum of ten (10) working days before an offer of employment can be extended.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION

The hiring supervisor is responsible for submitting the required documents to the Department of Human Resources. The Classification and Compensation Unit in the Department of Human Resources, at 293-5700 or P.O. Box 6640, is available to answer questions or provide additional information regarding this policy.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR INTERPRETATION

The responsibility for interpretation of this policy rests with the Director of Human Resources, West Virginia University.
