Parental Leave

West Virginia University complies with leave and retention requirements of the West Virginia Parental Leave Act. The Act provides that, following two weeks written notice, persons hired for permanent employment, who have worked at least twelve (12) consecutive weeks and have exhausted all accumulated leave, will be granted requests for unpaid family leave. Qualifying situations for this leave are birth or adoption of a child, or care of an employee's son, daughter, spouse, parent, or a dependent who is living with or dependent upon the income of the employee.
