Situations may occur when an individual or their family experiences a medical
situation that impacts the employee's ability to meet the expectations for their job. When mental,
physical, or emotional conditions inhibit or prevent an employee from performing their
responsibilities, medical leave from the workplace may be appropriate. Depending upon the
individual's terms of employment, such absence may be covered by sick leave and/or be without pay.
