West Virginia University complies with leave and retention requirements of the Family Medical Leave Act. The FMLA provides eligible employees up to 12 weeks of unpaid absence for a variety of reasons related to family and medical care. This time may be paid or unpaid, as appropriate for the employee's terms of employment and accrued leave hours. Please contact the Medical Management staff for more information on this subject.
Eligibility
Employees are eligible for FMLA leave if they have worked at WVU for at least twelve months for a minimum of 1,250 hours during the calendar year preceding the start of the leave.
