FEATURED PRESENTERS

Thomas O. Patrick

A member of the WVU College of Law faculty for over a decade, Professor Patrick teaches Alternative Dispute Resolution; Interviewing, Counseling, and Negotiation; Family Mediation; and Legal Analysis and Reasoning. He also teaches in the Academic Support program offered by the College of Law. He earned his B.A. from Glenville State College in 1971, an M.A. in Counseling in 1975 and an M.A. in English Education in 1981, both from West Virginia University. While attending the WVU College of Law he served on the editorial board of the West Virginia Law Review and as an Articles Editor of the Journal of College and University Law. He earned his J.D. in 1985 and is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of West Virginia. Following graduation, he clerked for Honorable Robert E. Maxwell, Chief Judge of the United States District Judge for the Northern District of West Virginia from 1985 until he joined the WVU College of Law faculty in the fall of 1992.

Professor Patrick has also taught law-related, graduate-level courses for the WVU College of Business and Economics and the WVU Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. Since joining the faculty of the College of Law, Professor Patrick has worked with various entities throughout the State of West Virginia, designing and implementing alternative dispute resolution initiatives. He regularly presents continuing legal education seminars and training workshops for bench, bar, and other constituencies. He has been the leading trainer for civil mediators since 1992 and for family mediators since 1996. During the 2002-03 academic year Professor Patrick served as a Visiting Associate Professor of Law at the University of Notre Dame Law School where he taught Alternative Dispute Resolution, Legal Writing, and Appellate Advocacy.

James A. (Jim) Morris

Jim Morris is Director of Employment and Employee Relations at West Virginia University. He earned his Bachelor's Degree (magna cum laude) in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in Industrial Relations, both from West Virginia University. He has 24 years of Human Resource experience- six years in higher education at West Virginia University and 18 years with Fortune 500 firms such as Borg-Warner Corporation, General Electric, and Bombardier Aerospace.

Jim has served in numerous specialist and generalist human resource roles, including Sr. Recruiter, Manager of Human Resources, and Director of Human Resources. He is certified by Development Dimensions International as a Trainer in Behavioral Interviewing, is a Certified Compensation Professional and a Senior Professional in Human Resources.

C.B. Wilson

C. B. Wilson is Associate Provost for Academic Personnel at West Virginia University, where he is the Provost's principal deputy in all matters involving faculty evaluation, appointment, promotion, and tenure. He is also responsible for matters relating to university faculty awards, sabbatical leaves, and a variety of professional development programs. He is a resource person for matters relating to faculty grievances, and often serves as a Hearing Officer for Level Three Grievances. He was chairman of the WVU Division of Music from 1977 to 1993. He has served as interim dean of the College of Creative Arts at WVU, was assistant dean of the Cleveland Institute of Music, and held other teaching positions at Case Western Reserve University and Northwestern University.

Professor Wilson holds the degrees of B.M.E. and M.M. from Northwestern University, and the Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve. As a Professor of Music, he teaches courses in Nineteenth Century Music, the History of Orchestration, and about his special research interest, Hector Berlioz.

He is active on the boards of Arts Monongahela and the Community Vision Foundation, chairs the Arts Committee of the Vision 2020 Project and the Greater Morgantown Arts Collaborative, and has served on the board of the Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is the Music Director and Conductor of the Morgantown Municipal Band, and is past president of the West Virginia College Music Educators Association.

Lynda Birckhead Danley

Lynda is the Associate Director and Training Director of the WVU Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services. In addition to assisting in day to day operations of the agency, she administers the pre-doctoral professional psychology internship program that is nationally accredited by the American Psychological Association, administers the practicum training program for doctoral students from WVU's clinical and counseling psychology programs, provides clinical services to WVU students, and provides training, consultation, and mediation services to WVU faculty and staff.

She obtained her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Psychology, as well as her doctorate in Counseling Psychology, from the University of Maryland at College Park. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Missouri- Columbia Counseling Service, and has spent most of the last 27 years as an administrator in college and university counseling and psychological services.

She is active in professional affairs at both the state and national levels. She is a Past-President of the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies (ACCTA). She is the current President of the West Virginia Psychological Association, serves on the Editorial Board of The Counseling Psychologist, and Chairs a Special Task Group for the Society of Counseling Psychology (Division 17) of the American Psychological Association.
